Paella Fiesta at Dashe Cellars

This last weekend we had the wonderful opportunity to attend the Paella Fiesta Event at Dashe Cellars, and what an event it was!

About 150 people attended the fiesta at their cellar in Alameda, California. It was wonderful and all the attendees had the opportunity to taste Dashe’s fabulous wines, sample traditional tapas as well as enjoy three different paellas prepared by chefs right in front of the guests. There was the traditional seafood offering, along with an all meat and a vegetarian one, which made my wife very happy because she is allergic to shell fish.

We took our time and sampled many of their wines, both red and white (I enjoyed their Dry Riesling from McFadden Farm) noshed on the tapas all while watching Flamenco dancers sing and dance traditional songs on a stage that was set up at the back of the building. The troupe was fantastic and sang authentic songs from the Andalucia Region of Spain and their flamenco dancing was superb, rapid and loud stomping to the fisty guitar being played.

Those of you that follow my blog know that I have frequented the Flamenco salons in Seville, Spain over the years and I must say that this troupe was right up there with some of the best that I have attended in Andalucia, such as El Gallo in Seville!

After we all quenched our thirsts and filled our bellies with great paella and tapas, we were treated to a delicious, smooth Dashe Port for dessert – Fabulous.

What a great event and hats off to Dashe for putting on such a great event. I will be there next year, for sure.

For those of you that can’t wait a year until their next Paella Fiesta to try their wines, by all means, make your way to Alameda, California. I can’t recommend them enough. You can find Dashe Cellars at 1951 Monarch Street, Hangar 25 (yes, they are located on what used to be the Alameda Naval Air Station), Alameda, CA 94501, or, better yet, go on line to purchase their wines: https://www.dashecellars.com , you won’t regret it.
