As you approach this stunning location, you'll be greeted by a majestic semi-circular building adorned with ornate tilework and vibrant mosaics that showcase the regions of Spain. Constructed for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929, the Plaza de España was designed by the architect Aníbal González, who envisioned it as a grand representation of Spain’s regional diversity and unity. The plaza's impressive architecture, combined with its lush gardens and serene fountains, creates a picturesque setting that is both inviting and awe-inspiring.

One of the highlights of Plaza de España is the impressive central fountain, surrounded by a series of beautifully crafted bridges that cross a canal. The canal, with its gently flowing water, offers a tranquil setting for a leisurely stroll or a relaxing boat ride. We stopped at the La Bernarda restaurant just outside of the park where we enjoyed a leisurely paella lunch (they offered a vegetarian paella for those in our party that wanted it), some great sangria, and outstanding desserts! La Bernarda is located at Calle Juan de Mata Carriazo S/N Esquina Bartolome de Medina, 21, 41004 Sevillaand is highly recommended.
