Pottery and Tiles from Sevilla
It is easy to fill your suit case with trinkets from the many shopping areas in Seville. T-shirts, key chains, small stuffed bulls and postcards, but the real treasures, in my opinion are the exquisite examples of pottery and tiles that the local artisans make.
There are several stores that sell good quality pottery, you just need to look a little and you will find them.
During our last trip to Sevilla in 2018, my wife and I sought out one of those reputable tile stores and looked through mountains of beautiful pieces of intricately painted pieces. We selected a large serving tray, six dishes and a two other smaller serving dishes. We loved them and the shop owner told us that she would be happy to have them shipped to our home in Northern California.
Little did we know that the cost of postage was going to be well over $300. But it was worth it, we use them all the time when entertaining and it has become such a conversation starter when the company is new to both my wife and me.
We also wanted to buy some sample of tile work so that we could determine how we would use it on our outdoor wall of our home.
All the patios in Seville and throughout the Andalusia region of southern Spain are richly decorated with beautiful tile work, both on the walls as well as their flowering pots. That was our goal, to replicate one of the grand patios at our home when we returned.
We purchased a few samples of tiles and brought them home with us.
As you can see from the photograph, I believe we succeeded in creating our little own piece of the Sevillian patios in our courtyard! We love the feeling it brings to the home!
